Controversial works

There are apparently some doubts about the attribution of works to a specific painter of the Caravage current. It's true for Nicolas Tournier as for the current founder, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, also known as the Caravaggio.

The Caravaggio Research Committee dedicated itself to discover the real creators of the Caravage paintings with the help of modern scientific investigation technology.

Musée du Louvre, Paris, France :

The concert "The concert" (circa 1615)

This painting is attributed to Nicolas Tournier by the Renaissance Music and Culture web site.

However, according to the book "Le XVIIe siècle", by Joël Cornette and Alain Mérot (published by Seuil), this painting should be attributed to Lionello Spada (1576-1622).

The Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation, Houston, Texas, USA :

Saint-Paul "Saint-Paul" (circa 1620)

This painting is attributed to Valentin de Boulogne or Nicolas Tournier.
